William and Mary is an extremely competitive school! There are several qualities the admissions office desires for incoming students. It is important to have good grades, class rank, and SAT scores, but extracurricular activities and leadership roles are crucial. During my high school years, I was class president, capitan of the girl's soccer team, and a retreat coordinator for my church youth group. I feel that this involvement made me a good candidate for admission. One other helpful hint, my year - only two students got in from the waiting list. One stood outside the admissions office wearing a cardboard sign, begging for admission. (This is true! Seriously, the local paper did an article about her!) If you are placed on the waiting list, the odds of actually getting admitted are very low!

Do well statisticallyApr 27 2004Computer Science
Do well statistically. W&M is becoming increasingly competitive and is looking to improve their status in rankings, so they'll love to pad the stats. I was a 1520 with a 3.8 and I'm pretty sure they just let me in without looking at anything else. Good essays also do help, but probably do not make as big of a difference as in other schools.
SAT: 1520 Male
Obviously, you need good objective measures:Apr 26 2004Undecided
Obviously, you need good objective measures: GPA (As and Bs) and SATs (1300 or so). BUT, make use of your PERSONAL ESSAY. This can make or break the decision. It is your chance to show them that you WILL ADD to the campus and the community.
SAT: 1290 Male

I recommend you take four years of foreign language--you are exempt from the college requirement if you do. My high school only offered three years, and so I have to take four semesters of Spanish now, which sucks a little.

I am from CT. I had excellent grades and good SAT scores and I applied on a whim. I got in.
